I always thought that the Jack of Shadows character would have made a neat Amberite.
Jack seems to have an attitude similar to Corwin's, and certainly he has the "win at all costs" approach that the Elder Amberites also posess.
In an ADRP sense, I can imagine his Shadow ability being a Power of sorts. He gains strength when in shadows, he can hear when his name is spoken anywhere in shadow, and so on.
Say ... do you suppose that the use of "shadow" in Amber and in this book can be a coincidence? Hmmm.

I think that Jack would fit into a lot of Amber-style campaigns. He has some powers which are somewhat unique, and perhaps "shadow" could be a power in the same way that the Abyss is used in some games. Shadow could be a source whereby the user could tap in and do certain things like reading thoughts of others in shadow, and so on.

I just picked up a copy of this on e-bay and hope to read it as soon as it arrives. Based on your comments Fin and Dil, it sounds like I'll like the story.

Hope you like it as much as I do. To me, it ranks up there with the Amber series as some of Roger's best work.
