Suppose that Roger wrote Nine Princes in Amber and then The Guns of Avalon and then quit writing Amber.
How would the Amberverse be different? Would it be better or worse?

Now this is an interesting thought. Just using the two novels as inspiration gets rid of all of the "Merlin Cycle" certainly, and I suppose a lot of the information about the Courts of Chaos.
I was planning on re-reading the Amber series as soon as I finish the new Dresden Files book, and maybe I'll take some notes on this.

There is a lot of discussion about whether the second (Merlin) series is canon or not. Chopping Corwin's series off after two books puts a different spin on it.
So we have Corwin recover, fight up Kolver, get imprisoned, escape, then come back to confront Eric. That does seem to make a nice starting point for a campaign. I assume that the point would be like a Throne War where everyone would then be fighting to be King of Amber in Oberon's absence?
